    新山自陈开顺在陈厝港（Kangkar Tebrau）开埠成功后，陈姓人氏也跟着大量移居到来，其中最出名者是陈旭年，他在1853年与另一股东陈万泰取得柔佛武吉伯兰甘（Bukit Berangan）的港主委任状。旋即在新山纱玉河右岸，即现在的陈旭年街一带开辟市场，而另一位先贤陈大存则在纱玉河旁创建巴刹。
